Fifth Annual Inter-Livery Petanque

On 30th July, the Worshipful Company of Coopers took part in the fifth annual Inter-Livery Pétanque Competition, held at Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens and organised by the Distillers’ Company, a fellow member of the Cask Group.

Continuing the tradition of previous years, the event was an enjoyable evening of friendly competition, bringing together Livery Companies for an entertaining display of skill, sportsmanship and camaraderie. The competing teams played with great enthusiasm, matched in equal measure by the encouragement and good humour of the spectators.

This year, the Coopers were delighted to field two teams. While the second team was assembled at the last minute – much to the surprise of those who were enthusiastically recruited – they performed admirably and contributed to a strong showing for the Company.

After a closely contested final against the Worshipful Company of Entrepreneurs, the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers secured their first-ever Inter-Livery Pétanque title. Congratulations to the Plaisterers on their well-deserved victory, and thanks to the Distillers’ Company for organising another memorable and successful event.

We look forward to returning next year for another evening of friendly rivalry and fellowship.
