Coopers join RAF 99 Squadron to celebrate 25 years of the C-17 Globemaster

On Friday 31st July, The Worshipful Company of Coopers was honoured to join RAF 99 Squadron at RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire as they celebrated the 25th anniversary of operating the Boeing C-17 Globemaster, one of the Royal Air Force's most capable strategic airlift aircraft.

The Company has enjoyed a longstanding and valued affiliation with 99 Squadron, whose personnel have served with distinction across the globe. Flying the remarkable C-17 Globemaster, the Squadron has played a vital role in every major theatre of operations over the past quarter of a century. Whether delivering humanitarian aid to communities affected by natural disasters, supporting military operations, or transporting troops and essential equipment wherever they are needed, 99 Squadron has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication and excellence in service.

A group of twenty members of the Worshipful Company of Coopers was privileged to attend the anniversary celebrations alongside around 500 specially invited guests. The evening was a fitting tribute to the Squadron's achievements and provided an opportunity to reflect on 25 years of exceptional service, while celebrating the friendships and partnerships that have been forged along the way.

 For those in attendance, it was a truly memorable occasion. The warmth of the welcome extended by the Squadron, the superb hospitality and the opportunity to celebrate such an important milestone together made for an evening that will be remembered for many years to come.

As part of the celebrations, the Coopers were especially pleased to present the Squadron with their historic cask, which had been fully restored and repainted and organised by the Company. The refurbished cask now takes pride of place once again in the 99 Sqn Crew Room and symbolises the enduring friendship and close ties between the Worshipful Company of Coopers and RAF 99 Squadron.
